best starter

in my opinion,the best starter is Turtwig,because it is effective against the elite 4,gyms and there isn't many moves that can 1 hit KO it.

Torterra = borderline
Infernape = high overused
empoleon = low overused

as such, chimchar/monferno/infernape is best.

The speed is enough to attack first, and with enough training it owns a lot of others. Just don't expect it to kill Cresselia or Latias, and Infernape does excellently

EVERY competitive pokemon should be EV'd. I EV'd my battle tower ones because, well, in the battle tower your opponents have EV'd pokemon.

Anyway, the pokemon that stop Infernape cold that WEREN'T banned to the uber category are:

Latias
Cresselia
Gyarados (sometimes)
Zapdos
Salamence (sometimes)
Dragonite (sometimes)
Suicune
Milotic
Moltres

and that's all. Not to many, huh. That's why it's quite popular.

but i'd rather have torterra as it can unleash good attacks and can take lots of hits

Yes, that is true about Torterra, and Torterra's earthquake and wood hammer attacks pose massive threats to anything that dares switch into torterra. But when Skarmory pops up, (which is inevitable) Torterra will HAVE to switch.

same with infernape if one of the pokemon you mentioned before comes up, inernape will have to switch out aswell, so i'd say they're on even ground

Yeah, I guess so. Actually, Torterra is both underrated and not used as much as it deserves. It has good offensive and defensive stats like Rhyperior, and better typing. I don't really get why Torterra isn't overused.

Now, lets discuss Empoleon.

Out of all starters from all main game regions, Empoleon has the highest Special Attack, a base of 111. A powerful special attacker with high defense, special defense, and a shitload of resistances, Empoleon is an excellent pokemon to have. It handles all kinds of popular pokemon well. Overall, 8 out of 10 i would rate it.

That's why Giratina is in most teams,for countering deoxys Attack,
and for the fact of it's attack and defence

Giratina even takes Ice Punches and Ice beams and Shadow Balls, which is amazing!

Yeah, but being in uber category with only base 100 is usually a let-down. so really, it can only hurt deoxys-attack

it is super effective.
